Project Progress

The project is definetly progressing much faster now that we know what has to be done to both the design/model, the environment we've already made and the textures needed for both.
We are constantly modifying the model after team meetings and discussions. We understand that for our project to succeed, our model will be the focus of our whole assignment. Of course the environment plays some part, but because of the models context, its role as the focal point shouldn't be overshadowed.
The cenotaph's original architect Boullee is very well known and the design is a bold statement for its time and still is. The sheer size and structure is another reason why we've strived to get the model right. The design is quite simple and minimalistic. There is few minor aesthetic features such as windows, balustrates or architectural motifs etc. And so the striking dome and outer walls have to take precedence and evoke an impact themselves.
The constant redesigning and modifying of sizes is because of all the above reasons, but also because we had little information to start modelling with. A mere few photos forced us to estimate and guess by trial an error.
Below are some of the screenshots we've worked together in archicad to produce over the last week.

Fig 2.) Tapered walls were again edited to show more clearly the entrance

Fig 3.) Tapered walls had to angle at a slight curve in accordance with Boullee's original concept
